FAQ’s

To add a review, navigate to the appropriate listing or search using the search function to find the appropriate listing.  Once on the listing page, click the ‘User Reviews’ tab and click on ‘Add Review’.  Select the ratings you would like to assign and fill out any additional fields for the review.  In order to submit the review, it is required for you to choose a rating for ALL the criteria, and to add some comments to the review also.  You can easily see which criteria are required as they will have a red star (*) next to them

Once registered, you can simply select Add Hotel from the ‘My Profile’ menu or the ‘Hotel Reviews’ menu.  An alternative way is to navigate to the section where you would like the listing to appear and select the ‘Add New Listing’ link in the top right of the directory page.  You will be required to select a region and sub-region for the hotel and enter a Title for the listing – this is recommended to be the name of the hotel (i.e. Sunny Guest House).  You then need to enter a brief description (summary) of the hotel.  This is a brief summary that will appear in the list of hotels that appears in each region.  You can then add a ‘Description’ that is a more advanced description of the hotel that appears only when a user navigates to your reviews page.
You can also upload images to the listing at this stage if you wish.  Once submitted, the listing will be sent for approval, and we aim to approve the listing within 24 hours.

All hotels added are sent for approval prior to being listed on the site.  This avoids duplicate listings and ensures that formatting is correct for the listing itself, along with subsidiary checks to ensure the hotel is listed in the correct category.  If you added a hotel and more than 24 hours have passed since doing so, please use the contact us link to contact the reviews team and request approval of the listing – please provide your username and the name of the listing.

In order to edit the hotel details on a hotel that you did not add, you need to first claim the listing.  To do this, you need to log-in (or register).  Your membership MUST be set to ‘Hotelier’.  Navigate to your listing and you should see a link next to the title of the listing for you to ‘Claim this listing’.
When you click this link you will receive a message requesting further details to substantiate your claim to that listing.  Please provide any details you can in order for us to verify the listing as yours, these should be details specific to the hotel, such as the full postal address and contact telephone numbers, including an email address through which you can be contacted.  Our listings team will then check the details entered against the details held by Chocolate Pillow and verify the claim.  We aim to process all claims within 24 hours, however please allow up to 48 hours for the listing to be fully processed.  Once your claim is reviewed, you will receive an automated email advising you of the claim approval or rejection.  Please note that it is our policy to reject any claim that is made from an email address not linked to the hotel.  We use various sources for checking our data and where listing cannot be verified via email confirmation, we will opt for telephone confirmation; however we will only accept landline numbers in submitted claims.

In order to customize the colours and looks of your page, including the section borders and background of your listing page, you need to have a ‘Premium Hotelier’ membership.  To upgrade your membership, simply select ‘My Membership’ from the ‘My Profile’ menu and choose the membership level you would like to upgrade to.  Premium Hotelier membership allows you to fully customize the look and feel of your listing on the site and to add additional information to your listing, such as special offers.

It is Chocolate Pillows policy to ensure that all reviews are fair and honest.   Should you find a review that you disagree strongly with, or contains any profanity, unjust accusations or personal information or attack, you will be able to report the review for moderation.  To do this, navigate to the review, and select the ‘Report this Review’ link, shown under the review ratings.  You will be asked to enter a reason for the review being reported.  Please provide as much detail as possible.  Once reported our moderation team will assess the content of the review and if necessary will amend, suspend, or delete the review.

As part of our ongoing quality management, we reserve the right to suspend or delete reviews submitted to the site.  This may be for a variety of reasons, such as general quality assessment where random reviews are submitted to moderation before posting, or a report of inappropriate content of a review.  If a review is reported as inappropriate, we may amend, suspend or delete the review pending enquiry.  Should several reviews be submitted and reported that appertain to the same user account, we may suspend your ability to add reviews to the site, suspend your account in all entirety, or delete your account from the system and block future registration attempts.  It is rare that we will do this and we will notify you prior to such action being taken.

The email should contain a link to the listing that holds your review and the reasons for the report.  You may alternatively select ‘My Reviews’ from the ‘My Profile’ menu to see the reviews you have written.  You will have 72 hours (3 days) from the email being issued within which to amend the review.  After this time, our moderation team will assess the amended review and decide on the action to be taken.  If deemed necessary, we will suggest further amendments or remove the review entirely.  You will again be notified of this by email.

All our editor reviews are carried out with a full inspection, in line with UK Tourism standards.  These reviews are carried out by industry professionals, accompanied by seasoned travellers.  This way you can be sure that our Editor Reviews are from a personal and professional aspect.
Our User Reviews are highly monitored and moderated.  Our reviews system also prevents a listing owner from providing a review on their own listing, avoiding any ‘bogus’ positive reviews.  Multiple reviews by one user or IP address against a listing are also flagged to the moderation team, to ensure transparency.  Suspected ‘bogus’ reviews are treated strictly and with the utmost importance.  UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES do we condone, accept or approve of false ratings submitted by hoteliers against their own listing.  If you suspect that an account is creating bogus reviews, please report the reviews to the moderation team using the ‘Report this Review’ link in the review details stating you believe the user associated with the review to be generating false ratings (you only need do this once.  If you state in the review report that the report relates to the user, we will investigate all reviews submitted by that user).  Our moderation team will then assess each case individually and take the appropriate corrective action.

The ‘Other Sites’ section is a ‘code enabled’ text area.  This means that you can use widgets and html code from other sites to place ‘widgets’ (small applications that pull information from other sites to be displayed on Chocolate Pillow) in the listing details on a separate tab.  This area will work for coding from any site, however is highly moderated.  To insert a TripAdvisor widget, or a widget from any other site, such as a booking site, simply go to the site in question and find the widget code.  Copy and paste this into the ‘Other Sites’ section of your listing.  The code should then operate correctly.  If the widget does not work correctly, please contact the site administration using the General Enquiries form in the ‘About Us’ menu and provide details of your listing and the code you are attempting to use.
NOTE: We cannot guarantee that all widgets will work with the site.  It is recommended that you consult the widget provider for any specific issues relating to formatting of the widget or the content displayed in the widget.  We can only assist where the issue is caused by non display of the widget through your listing.

We have many options available for the background styles and border styles for your listing content.  To view these please click here to see all the available options.

There are several default styles available for use in any listing content.  As default, you should be able to access a WYSIWYG editor when editing a listing.  If you cannot see an enhanced editor, please check your membership is set to Hotelier or Premium Hotelier.
Please Click Here to see the available options for styling your listing.  To use the codes, simply click on the HTML button in the editor to see the HTML code for your content and enter in any additional tags you wish.
NOTE: Most standard HTML tags are permitted to be used, however forms and additional scripted code will NOT work and will be removed automatically from the system upon submission of the field.

This image is set as default to be the ‘Main Image’ of your listing.  To select a main image, edit your listing and scroll to the images.  When looking at this, each image has a circular radio button underneath.  Change the selection to select which image you would like to use as your main image and submit your changes.  Your image should now be updated.

Log in to your account and ensure you are at a ‘Hotelier’ membership level.  Navigate to your listing and select ‘Edit’.  Scroll down to the images section of the listing edit screen.
To REMOVE an image – select the ‘Trash Can’ symbol under the image and save your listing, the image will then be deleted.
To ADD an image – select the file using the ‘Browse’ button and then submit the listing to upload the image
To CHANGE an image – Delete the old image and add the new one as above.
NOTE: It is not currently possible to change the order of the listing images.  They appear sequentially according to the order in which they are uploaded to the system.

The enquiry form is available to Premium Hoteliers only.  This is due to the amount of resources required for the form to operate through the site.  To activate the form, edit your listing once logged in and add an email address to the ‘Enquiry Email’ field.  Please ensure this is a valid email address to avoid failed enquiries.  To test the form, go to your listing and submit a test enquiry to ensure it is received by the required email address.
NOTE: You may need to add Chocolate Pillow’s email as a ‘safe sender’ in your spam filter.
