IARRP Expert Shares Progress of China's Agricultural Digital Technology Innovation at WFF

Under the theme of “Healthy Diets Healthy Planet”, the World Food Forum (WFF) 2022 was convened from 17th to 21st October at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy.

 

Building on last year’s success, the Forum hosted the WFF Global Youth Forum, the FAO Science and Innovation Forum and the FAO Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum.

 

Wu Wenbin, Chief Researcher of the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), was invited to the FAO Science and Innovation Forum online both on 19th and 20th Oct. He made a presentation titled as “Crop monitoring in China: the CHARMS”, and gave a speech in a themed forum “the Role of Digital Technology in Agriculture Production/Consumption”.

 

Wu introduced the research and development and the overall application of the CHARMS, and focused on sharing China’s innovative progress in multi-source data fusion of crop remote sensing mapping, the rapid collection of crop samples, the optimization of crop identification features, crop mapping technology and data products of different scales, as well as putting forward some thoughts and suggestions on global crop mapping.
